Synopsis
1999: A Conquista da América is a documentary that traces the trajectory of the Palmeiras soccer team in the Copa Libertadores. Counting the 40 years of the club in the field, the feature features several interviews with football players and fans of the team, such as Cafu, Dudu, Ademir da Guia, Felipão and others. Going through important milestones in the history of the team: the defeats of 1961 and 1968; The thrashing of the powerful Boca Juniors, the clash against Grêmio in the quarterfinals in 1995 and the conquest of the Mercosur Cup, in 1998; the preparation of the squad by Scolari, the signings, the pressure from the crowd, Zapata’s penalty kick at the Palestra Italia Stadium and much more. And it also has the mission of documenting not only the history of a champion, but of South American football in the first 40 years of Libertadores de América.
